Research Question: How does social media reflect the way young people view their bodies based on gender?
Hypothesis: Social media is a major factor for young people’s insecurities in how they view their bodies regardless of gender.
In order to research this question, I would send out a survey among young adults, possibly 18-21. I think it would also help to find a way to expand the age range to include most of Gen Z by extending it to younger teenagers too. I could post the survey to my own social media and have people from my old school fill it out. In the survey, I would ask for their age and gender and ask questions about what kind of influencers they follow and how they feel about their body types. Do they feel ugly compared to the most famous TikTok star? Do they feel the need to be like that star in order to be considered attractive?
